Welcome to the Intractable Pain Centers Website!!!

People with severe chronic pain need knowledgeable help!

Dr. Thomas Purtzer is just the man who can make your dreams of a pain-free life come true.

Whether it happened in a car accident, in a work-related accident, or even when chronic pain occurs and you just don't know why. For most patients, it will take a year or two to reach the place where your pain is something you can handle without taking strong medications ... but that is hope!

Regardless of the reasons a patient has chronic pain, there are basically three ways that chronic pain can be treated. The first is the optimal utilization of opiates. The second avenue of treatment is optimal utilization of non-opiate medications that are utilized to help with chronic pain, including, but not limited to, antidepressants, anxiety-relieving medications, anticonvulsants, muscle relaxants, sleeping aids, and other unique medications. The last and most important aspect of treatment of chronic pain is the learning, implementation, and utilization of pain reduction techniques.

Third, without utilizing the plethora of alternative medicine posibilities that are available, at IPC there are many sound techniques for our patients to learn to get from being a patient in pain to becoming a savvy whole person learning to regain their life.  Many of the techniques are simply natural ways of living your life, such as a healthy diet, hygienic sleep, staying away from nicotine products and staying away from illicit street drugs.  If you don't want to slip, don't go where it is slippery!  You will find in the diet section one of the easiest ways to find wellness in your life, as each cell of your body needs the proper nutrition to function at it's absolute best, so that you can function at your best.

FYI:  Relaxation techniques will be a large part of your recovery.  Some methods are easier than others, but recently we have discovered another great way of building your arsenal in combating the suffering of chronic pain.  Please read the following...

Learning relaxation techniques can help more than one can realize, especially when you notice that your pain multiplies when you are going through an unusually stressful situation.

Positive affirmations on a daily basis, (sometimes on an hourly basis) can change your life faster than you can believe; this is why Dr. Purtzer recommends that you obtain and watch Louise Hays' DVD "You Can Heal Yourself" (louisehay.com).  Watch it every day for at least a week, and when you feel the pangs of stress enter your life, watch it again.  "Every word spoken in the DVD is a direct line to healing yourself."  She has many books out that you can look at on amazon.com.  Her daily affirmations have helped millions get in touch with their gratitude of life.  Just being sincerely grateful for all the blessings we've been given is a sure-fire way to get your true healing started.  Let this work for you also.  Living a deeply inspired and happy life is certainly not a bad way to live your life!
